One of the most apparent talking points of the trailer was that the game just doesn't look that great from a visual perspective. Sure, the art design and general atmosphere itself looks marvelous, but the graphical fidelity looks years behind what most other similar games are cooking up. Yes, the animation and lighting effects are a considerable leap from Bethesda's previous work, but when games like The Witcher 3 are crafting huge worlds which come complete with jaw-dropping visuals too, this just feels a little underwhelming. On the other hand, perhaps Bethesda are in part acting in line with consumer complaints about many released games being significantly "downgraded" from prior trailers, and so they're merely keeping fan expectations in tune with what the final product will be. While relatively so-so visuals aren't the be-all-and-end-all of any Fallout game, many were no doubt expecting a little more from the game, and that shouldn't be quickly downplayed or discounted as "shallow".
