Fallout 5: 10 Locations We Want To See

8. Continental Europe

Before the outbreak of the Great War, a series of conflicts between the former members of the European Commonwealth tore the continent apart.

The European Civil War resulted from a lack of available resources coming out of the Middle East, which the Commonwealth had been collectively oppressing for several years. Once the oil wells dried up in 2060, the nations of Europe began fighting with each other over what little remained.

With these existing divisions a Fallout game exploring Europe would have a wealth of conflicts and struggles to choose from. Having been influenced by the U.S, China and the U.S.S.R for many decades, each country or region could present a unique blend of a recognisable cultural history and fantastically new elements inspired by pre-war politics.

Like The Legion from Fallout: New Vegas, the opportunity to design factions around historical groups is extremely ample too. Inspiration could be found wherever the story is set.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
