Fallout 5: 10 Ways To Blow Fallout 4 Out The Water

9. Reintroduce The Karma System

Fans made their opinions known when they realized the Karma system was removed for Fallout 4 and would instead be a companion approval system a la Dragon Age. To bring back those veteran players that may have felt ostracized, Bethesda can reintroduce the Karma system AND keep the companion system so that every decision can change not only your companions' perception of you, but the entire Wasteland's opinion of you as well.

The Karma system allows for the player to potentially feel even more guilt or pleasure with every decision, regardless of the nature of the decision itself. It also allows the player to be truly good or evil, which simply isn't the case in F4 (you can be a jerk, but not actually evil). The opinions of companions could also add extra heat to certain game-changing moments as you may wish to romance a particular companion, but you're afraid they won't support your addiction to nuking cities.

This system allows for variety within all endings, it gives the interactions with companions variety, and it gives an iron-clad justification for a second play-through outside of a simple change in dialogue choices. Fallout is at its best when your choices lead to unexpected consequences and progression within the world. The Karma system lies at the foundation of the Fallout series, and F5 would only benefit from its inclusion.
