2. A More Engaging Story
Fallout 4's story... wasn't the greatest. We won't go into specifics in case you're still trawling through it, but the biggest surprise was almost hilariously predictable, and the quest to track down your son just wasn't much more than following a series of vaguely interesting breadcrumbs. As always seems to be the case with Fallout, the side content is a lot more interesting, as is the player's ability to "create their own narrative" as they wander the wasteland. But still, Bethesda could and should deliver more, so while we won't expect it to happen, F5 could certainly be much more ambitious with its story, investing us much more in characters (by not rushing the damn prologue!) and delivering a more gratifying emotional punch at the same time. Instead, F4 just ends up on a shoulder shrug.
