Fallout 5: 12 Things We Want To See

9. A Whole New Engine

You could practically hear Fallout 4's Creation Engine straining under the weight of what Bethesda was asking it to do, and the result was an extremely janky final product, which for all of the game's terrific entertainment value, made it feel like it was released unfinished. Bugs in Bethesda games are nothing new, and sometimes they can be totally hilarious, but it's also immensely frustrating that the game is so overloaded with such blatant technical problems which the developer surely must have noticed prior to release. Then there's the agonisingly long loading times, sometimes lasting up to 50 seconds in length, which are nothing if not immersion-breaking and again indicate a game engine that can't keep up with the demands of modern gaming. Bethesda would be extremely foolish to use the engine again for the next game, given that F4 has been heavily compromised by its slapdash presentation and performance.
