Fallout 5: 13 Things We Want To See

7. An Improved Morality System

Fallout 5
Bethesda

This is a rather weak area for video games as a whole, in fairness: crafting a morality system that seems deep rather than arbitrary and black-and-white is extremely challenging.

Prior Fallout games had a Karma point system that, while effective to a point, had no sense of ambiguity, while Fallout 4 did away with this entirely and basically sucked all the fun out of attempting to do an "evil" run.

While FO5 doesn't necessarily need the Karma system to return, a proper cause-and-effect system working underneath the hood (and transparent to the player) would make the world feel more authentic. If you're an a**hole and get a bad rep, the local townsfolk should recognise this by offering you cheaper deals on items out of fear.

How Likely Is It?: Morality is extremely difficult to program into any game because of the sheer amorphous nature of it, so anything ground-breaking is unlikely, but a baby-step towards something more interesting? Sure. 5/10
