Fallout 5 Wishlist: 10 Things Fans Need To See
3. Non-Violent Possibilities
Don't get me wrong, video game violence is fun. Decapitating Deathclaws never stops being satisfying and a well placed Fat Man explosion is always certain to bring a smile to your face, but over-the-top violence shouldn't be all Fallout has to offer.
Some of the funniest and most engaging playthroughs of Fallout 4 have come from people attempting to just live a peaceful life, building their settlements and managing a steady income without getting involved in the bombastic events of the main game. But while that's an extreme example, allowing players to take that role-playing philosophy and apply it more broadly would make the prospect of multiple playthroughs more inviting.
Again, it's not that Bethesda needs to remove violent options completely or make its main quest action free, it's just that there needs to be more than one way to tackle the different situations the game throws at you.
It might be too much to ask now that Fallout is clearly moving away from its RPG roots into more action-oriented territory, but even other shooters on the market these days give you more options to get through missions than Fallout does.
