Last we heard, Bethesda had yet to hammer out the finer details of how it intended to handle PvP interactions in Fallout 76, but now, closer to launch, it appears to have finalised how a typical encounter will play out.

As before, any player below level five who so happens to find themselves in the crosshairs of another will be safe from harm, but once the training wheels are off, anyone is fair game for unsavoury types. Regardless of level or gear discrepancies, you can initiate all-out war on another player simply by shooting at them. If the latter returns fire, PvP will be enabled for both players, with no repercussions for whoever emerges the victor.

If, however, your victim decides to flee and you opt to pursue the kill, not only will a bounty be placed on your head, but you'll be robbed of the ability to see other players on the map. If a headhunter manages to collect your corpse, the bounty reward will come straight out of your pocket.

If you're too poor to cough up the caps? You'll be hit with a two-hour damage debuff that only ticks down while in-game.
