As dictated by Sod's law, anything that can go wrong will go wrong, and yes, that includes the infinitesimally small chance of building your settlement in exactly the same plot of land as another player. You'd think it impossible, given that Fallout 76's playable space is four times the size of its predecessor's, but Bethesda's not taking any chances, its built in a failsafe to account for the unlikely scenario.

Bear in mind, that your humble abode will only materialize on the map when you're in-game (when you're not plugged in, it's packed away as a blueprint), so you won't be constantly tripping over others' own establishments, but in the unlikely event that you and another player join the same server and have your lodgings placed in close proximity, they won't stack on top of each other or meld into one gigantic mass of debris.

Instead, priority will be given to whoever joined the server first, so if you log in to find a stranger's home standing where yours should be, don't freak out, yours will be stowed away in your inventory.
