Fallout 76: 10 Things You Must Do First

2. Take Part In A Public Event

In fairness, it's hard to go more than a few minutes in Fallout 76 without encountering a public event popping up on your HUD, as marked by a yellow hexagon.

Public events are effectively shared-world missions which all players within the 24-player instance can partake in, and in this player's experience have more often than not transpired into wave-based assaults against frighteningly large numbers of enemies.

While you'd be smart not to tackle these missions solo - especially if you're still far from level 10 - they do provide a fun shift from the sometimes-monotonous nature of the main quest-line.

They don't offer much in terms of story or nuance, but finding a few other players firing relentlessly at a horde of scorchers and lending your own might is surely what an online Fallout game is all about, right?
