This is likely to be a major point of contention among Fallout fans come November, but many simply don't see how the Fallout formula could be improved by engaging in shootouts with and defending a base from a ravenous pack of profanity-wielding preteens. Fallout has always been a deeply personal experience, and that stands to be trounced in the face of dabbing, legendary lootbox skin-clad kids.
Nobody is quite sure as to the nature and extremity of the monitization practices Bethesda plans to employ, but most fans of the series' earlier titles likely won't buy in if a majority of the experience is spent gaining XP and resources which are in turn used to earn a couple goes on the on the micro-transaction slot machine.
This is mostly simple conjecture, and Fallout fans can't really know what awaits them in November until they get their hands on it. That said, the more the overall experience apes other titles, the less the masses will be inclined enjoy it. We have already been subjected to things like customizable outfits and emotes in recent trailers, and some shudder to think what further horrors lurk just out of sight.
