Fallout 76: 8 New Details You Need To Know
1. DLC Will Be Free For "Years To Come"
On April 3, 2006 - two days earlier, and Bethesda could have gotten away with labelling it an April Fools' prank - Bethesda rolled out its 'prestigious' Horse Armor add-on for Oblivion, a $2.50 bundle that unlocked exactly what it described.
Sure, the gold-coated mail draped on your steed looked fancy, but the price and content of the add-on instantly cemented its place in memedom's hall of fame and Bethesda, to its credit, indulged in the joke that it became the butt of many years later, consequently ensuring history didn't repeat itself.
12 years later, Bethesda is once again giving Elder Scrolls communities cause to set the internet ablaze with chatter, but this time, it's for positive reasons. Fallout 76's DLC, whether that be small or massive in scope, will be completely free for all who own the base game and be funded entirely by in-game, cosmetic-only microtransactions.
Making the revelation in NoClip's documentary, Bethesda stopped short of promising free content until post-launch support comes to an end, but it certainly intends for that to be the case for "years to come."
