Fallout 76: 8 New Details You Need To Know

2. Traditional Factions Are Out

From Fallout 3's technological war between the Enclave and Brotherhood of Steel to the New California Republic and Ceasar's Legion's ideological conflict in New Vegas, one feature that's been a mainstay of Fallout's post-apocalyptic universe since even its isometric beginnings are factions.

However, with Bethesda's plans for Fallout 76 being to venture into uncharted territory in the gameplay sense, it's to be expected that several consistent features be reimagined or left on the cutting room floor.

Factions, then, are one such gameplay facet under threat of extinction but fear not, if you've got a soft spot for Fallout 4's Minutemen, you can still adopt their mantra, just not in the way you're perhaps accustomed to.

You, not an in-need NPC, will be the one to form a faction, decide its purpose and recruit more players to the cause, paving the way for near-endless roleplaying opportunities impossible to replicate by a series of AI-controlled bozos.

Check out Pete Hines' interview with Gamereactor for a more thorough rundown of how Bethesda expects factions to play out in 76.
