Fallout 76: 9 Big Questions We Still Have

5. Will We Have To Pay To Play Online?

Let's be honest - if there are no NPCs in Fallout 76, and missions are given by a quest vending machine, playing the game solo will be very boring. Online is the only option. As a traditionally single-player franchise, this will be a big difference for fans.

While many gamers have PS+ and Xbox Live, some players prefer exclusively solo experiences, and so don't haven't bothered to shell out for these services. But now that Fallout is making the transition to online, these players will have a hard choice between paying money or playing offline (or not at all).

It's looking increasingly likely that the game will require an online pass, which is a shame since it might stop lots of players having an enjoyable experience. Maybe Bethesda will find a way to get around the pass requirements - hopefully.

I'm based in the UK, looking to make a career out of writing about entertainment and culture. The only thing I like as much as watching films, playing games or listening to music is enjoying as much hummus and crisps as I can while I do so. My favourite film is Eddie the Eagle and I like any game that lets me wander around beautiful worlds (or eat hummus and crisps).
