Fallout 76: 9 New Features We Can't Wait To Try
7. Less Restrictive Base Building
Bethesda stumbled upon the realization that players love building whatever their imaginations allow with Fallout 4, but it almost never came to be. The developer came close to cutting the feature entirely on several occasions for fear that nobody would give it the time of day.
The gamble paid off, of course, and now Bethesda is adopting the feature to be a central pillar of Fallout 76's core gameplay features. Only this time, players will have considerably more freedom to create than before.
Base building, settlement restoration, a central hub for you and your friends to congregate and fortify against potential aggressors: the appeal of all those activities is clear as day, and Bethesda clearly wants you to want to engage with the system, rather than view it as an ancillary side activity.
How exactly it works still requires clarification on Bethesda's end, but it has confirmed that any structure you've spent a good amount of man hours building can be upended and relocated anywhere on the map.
There'll no doubt be some restrictions in place, but the prospect of fortifying defences around a missile silo to defend it from other hostile players sounds too fun not to get excited.
