Fallout 76: 9 New Features We Can't Wait To Try
1. Mods
Otherwise known as Bethesda's secret weapon. Long after the core conflict at the heart of Fallout 76 has been resolved and former denizens of the numerically titular vault have emerged and had their fill of base building, PvP and nuking half of West Virginia's population out of existence, it'll be mods, not Bethesda's own DLC (which is no less welcome, by the way) that'll keep the engine running until whatever's next for the series comes along.
Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim have all (and continue to) been supported with quality of life improvements, revamped content and bonafide expansions created entirely by fans, and with the addition of online multiplayer, the boundaries are only going to be pushed wider in regards to what Bethesda's fanbase can come up with.
Todd Howard has already noted that mods won't be available at launch, likely due to the logistical issues of enabling mods for multiple players at once, but that's fine - it gives us plenty of time to enjoy the fruits of Bethesda's own labour before the floodgates open and the fan-made content comes pouring in.
As always, expect Randy Savage and Thomas The Tank Engine reskins aplenty.
