5. Gameplay Is Survival-Based

Another major change Bethesda are making to the franchise with Fallout 76, according to leaks, is swapping out consequence-free shootouts for high-stakes survival gameplay. After all, the title will be casting you as one of the first fresh humans to engage with this dystopian world on a significant level, jumping into a sandbox which is more dangerous than ever.

How this will work is still up in the air, but by the sounds of it players will be building settlements, maintaining their gear and avoiding being murdered either by the environment or other players.

While this initially may seem like a radical departure for the series, it doesn't come that far out of left field, as Fallout 4's survival mode has already teased how well the franchise works as a more hardcore experience. If Bethesda are dedicated to building a full game with that goal in mind, then there's a good chance they have sturdy enough foundations in place already to pull it off.
