Fallout 76: Every Gameplay & Plot Detail You Need To Know
6. It Will Be Online
By far the biggest change Fallout 76 is making to the regular franchise formula is taking it online. Though Bethesda haven't officially confirmed it, sources have explained that the spinoff will be multiplayer-focused, with players sharing the world with an as-of-yet-unannounced number of other fans.
There's no word on whether this means it's going to be an MMO ala The Elder Scrolls Online, but you will be taking missions alongside other people - as well as potentially even fighting against them. Leaks have suggested the franchise was going to go down the multiplayer path for a while now, as Bethesda have spent the past few years getting programmers in to help build an online infrastructure in their Gamebryo engine.
Though a contentious change, the idea of playing Fallout with your friends is an appealing one - that is, if Bethesda can actually get big online sessions up and running on their notoriously-broken engine.
