Fallout 76 Hands-On: 8 Reasons You Should Be Worried
4. Divisive Settlements Are A Big Part Of Gameplay
That one part of Fallout 4 you never asked for and barely interacted with?
It's back, and now forms a core part of the game.
Yes, building settlements could be fun, and as a visual reward for hundreds of gathered/crafted components they were fine as a distraction, but now? You'll have to get stuck into building homesteads on the regular, as the "plot" is essentially rebuilding America.
Though at time of writing we have no idea as to how big these settlements can get, there isn't a faction system in the game whatsoever, so it's not like you're building a makeshift Brotherhood of Steel, or making your mark on the world as a city.
Annoyingly, The Verge's hands-on time pointed out that "construction is still slightly clunky, as it was in Fallout 4, and it can be difficult to place things exactly where you want them". This, after one of the most standout complaints from Fallout 4 was the awkward settlement integration, and that was with a demonstrably smaller array of components to build from.
If nothing has changed since 2015, that's one hell of a black mark.
