Fallout 76 Hands-On: 8 Reasons You Should Be Worried
1. We Need To Talk About The Graphics
Bethesda's Fallout wing has never had the best art direction - or rather, they've never had the most colourful or 4K fan-pleasing graphics. Still, the series has a definable identity, and fans most certainly didn't fall in love with the Wasteland over aesthetics.
That said, Fallout 76 is not a looker... to the point of coming across like it's on past hardware.
The current jaw-dropping clip doing the rounds is one of the nuclear explosions that comes as part of regular gameplay. After a nuke has been set off, a set period of the map will be designated as the blast zone, then you have the above to watch: A flat-looking, almost pizza-textured "nuclear cloud" that looks about as threatening as a melted Nuka Cola can.
Obviously this is just one small part of the experience, but coupled with a look that almost appears to be a step back from Fallout 4, it only combines to leave a sour taste.
Remember too, this is releasing just weeks after Red Dead Redemption 2. There's a chance the whole thing could become a laughing stock.
