Fallout London: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

4. The Style

One of the most recognisable parts of the Fallout series is its style.

The classic 50's retro-future look, from the cars and the atomic engines to the Protectrons and Nuka Cola, is mixed wonderfully with the dust and grime of a world that has endured the apocalypse.

The result is a distinctive look and feel to every Fallout game that stands out in the modern apocalypse-loving gaming industry.

The setting of London is a new twist on this, being a place that is distinct from (but still very much part of) Fallout's classic Americana style. Just as the wasteland of Washington DC is recognisable yet different from the modern city, the design of London will be a compelling mix of the familiar and the strange.

From the black cabs and double-deckers to the winding network of the Underground, Fallout: London is sure to be a unique entry in the history of the Fallout franchise.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
