Initial reactions to Far Cry 4's villain were a bit subdued, thanks to his campy appearance and drastically different characterisation compared to anything else in the series. Pagan Min looks to be a villain worthy of succeeding Vaas though, with a similar streak of unbridled insanity. A frequent criticism of the Far Cry series has been its overused trope of putting the player in the shoes of a Westerner that aims to violently 'save' a remote location from conflict. Far Cry 4 puts this idea completely on its head, with Pagan Min believing himself to be the saviour of the Himalayan Kyrat state. The self-proclaimed ruler of Kyrat, Min is living as a recluse in his palace, while insane governors do much of the actual ruling. His flamboyant personality and love for fashion is a total anachronism when pitted against the traditional Himalayan setting, and he's already shaping up to a be a villain you love to hate.
