Ok, this one is a bit of a cheat because it's already confirmed, but it's an important one. Ubisoft have stated that the main character in Far Cry 4 was born and raised in Kyrat until the age of four, before emigrating and returning many years later. We've seen protagonist after protagonist be thrown into a complex political situation they don't understand and be left with the only recourse of mass genocide on the Unionised Henchman Of Video Game Villains. The situation is made much worse as the protagonist is always in some way an outsider, new to the situation and the people around them. We know that the protagonist in Far Cry 4 was born and raised in Kyrat and that's a very good thing. Not simply because Ubisoft caught a lot of flak for allegedly promoting the ideals of "the colonial white saviour", but because this character could have familial ties, could meet old childhood friends (such as the antagonist), be required to sacrifice a meaningful portion of himself and his childhood in order to attain his goals. Jason Brody struggled with the concept of killing, after ending so many lives he lowered the carbon emissions of the entire country he was in. It left his sobbing banal and meaningless, and Ubisoft have set themselves up to not only avoid the same problem but to turn that problem into what could be the games greatest strength. They may not always be popular (uPlay...) but Ubisoft know how to make free roaming action adventure games like no other company on earth. Doubtless, they'll pull it off again with aplomb.
