Far Cry 4: 10 Things We Want To See

2. Make The Wildlife More Than Fodder

As the elephants must be treated with respect, so too should the rest of the animal kingdom in the game. It may be that we can slaughter swathes of the himalayan equivalent of cassowaries, but they should be more than just fodder and certainly much more than this seasons must have bandolier! The crafting system in Far Cry 3 was fantastic. It added a depth and a new dimension to a formula that was beginning to stale, but the variety and complexity of wildlife available - in reality - came down to little more than difficult shopping for the next bag. It was shopping where the item you want to purchase either scratches back or runs away and you must sink an arrow into its flank before you can take home your prize. The new mountain environment allows for a whole new range of wildlife (although I'm sure they'll manage to push sharks in there somewhere, warranted or not) and that should mean a new take on how we interact with the wildlife. Let's make pythons (renowned for their cold mountain homes) more than Prada, and make the animals more than just movable scenery that we occasionally pluck like low hanging fruit. We have seen cassowary farmers here at WhatCulture.com and when they enter the cassowary pen, they carry a riot shield to prevent disembowelment. That is the sort of experience we want from the wildlife in Far Cry 4.
