Far Cry 6: 10 Reasons The Haters Are Wrong
2. Dani
All of my time with FC6 has been played with the female version of Dani (the game gives you the choice of gender at the very beginning.) Dani is a fantastic player character, one who has a background and skillset that makes her transformation from someone who simply wants to escape Yara for the sunny shores of Florida into a guerrilla leader a logical one.
A few things largely contribute to the game's excellent portrayal of Dani.
One is the voice acting. The female Dani is voiced by Canadian actress Nisa Gunduz, who injects the character with as much emotion and nuance as a movie performance. Dani's voice, her quirks, her eye-rolling moments; all are brought to life by Gunduz's portrayal.
Another is the fact that Dani has a voice throughout your adventure. One of the weaknesses of the early Far Cry games was the silent protagonist; it's difficult to get behind a character who only occasionally grunts or groans. Dani narrates the game as you play, commenting on events as they happen and making snarky cracks about enemies and allies alike.
Cutscenes take place in third person, a visual that adds a surprising amount of immersion to the conversations, transactions, and mission briefings that occur, as they let you see Dani react in both voice and face / body language.
Dani Rojas is a compelling player character who adds to the game's enjoyment immensely.
