2. Ball Physics
Welcome to part two of my Pro Evo debate winners. The issue of ball movement. The ball movement in Pro Evo allows for a randomness that I've already touched upon. Misplaced passes are more frequent here and perhaps this is the key to out of position players, caused by a willingness to attack they leave themselves exposed when the move breaks down. The variation in long to short balls is greater with PES too: sometimes catching defenders flat-footed as the ball sails over their heads or simply running out for a throw in as the winger misjudges the bounce. It adds a sense of unknowing and that in turn creates greater excitement. Both games however do suffer from a tendency for the player to be able to pass-pass-pass-pass to the forwards without much problem, but I just feel the erratic ball movements - particularly when in flight - adds that extra dimension for PES. The predictability factor is clearly something that EA Sports have worked on this year, but still, based on the demos, PES still has that edge.
