Granted, the Iranian national team isn't full of stars, nor is it the first team to crop into your mind when you think about international squads you'd want in the next edition of FIFA. Hear us out though €“ after all, Iran are participating in this Summer's World Cup tournament. They are the #1 ranked team in Asia and occupy 42nd place in the World rankings. While the Asian football spectrum isn't the grandest and most high profile continent for football in the world, surely we should have the best teams in each continent on the game at least? If we've got India in the roster, surely they're more glamorous regional opposition are worthy of a berth? The Iranians have also featured in four World Cup tournaments €“ most recently in 2006 €“ and even if they've only managed one victory at the finals to date, that's still a record worthy of respect. This summer presents the squad with another opportunity to boost that record and frankly, the fact that Iran aren't featured on the latest edition of FIFA is simply bizarre.
