FIFA 14: 5 Most Annoying Things That Almost Ruin It

1. The Statue Glitch

This is the MOTHER of all the problems on this game, fully deserving the final point on this list. Imagine the scene: you are defending, trying to contain the opposition as they pass the ball around. Eventually, the opponent resorts to wing play and manages to swing a cross in. You've managed to switch to the correct defender who should be easy to position in front of the tiny striker hoping to get his head on the end of the cross. Panic ensues. The moment you've switched to this player, you've realised that he won't move - he's a statue, and stands idle just watching the ball come in, and the little striker can't believe his luck as he scores a free header. He was a statue for only a second or two at the most, but that is more than enough time for the opposition to take advantage. This glitch can happen to any of your players, anywhere on the pitch and in any situation without any pre-warning. One of the other more annoying times for it to happen is when delivering a long through ball. You see your striker or winger making a defence-splitting run, but as soon as the ball leaves the foot of the midfielder, he just stops dead with his feet planted into the ground and a curious ability to rotate his whole body to face the ball which was struck perfectly for him to run onto. This glitch should have been the first thing EA would fix after launch, but it is still in the game, unthinkably. Rants aside, this game is still packed with enjoyable moments. The way it makes you approach the game tactically, due to the added emphasis on player strength and tackling in general, is very rewarding when it pulls off. And it has to be accepted that all games, regardless of the size, will come with glitches. It's just an inevitable part of the industry right now. But equally, without these, at times, crippling errors, Fifa 14 could have been an unstoppable version of Fifa Football. Are there any other glitches or errors that you wish to point out? Do you agree that the game is fun despite the negatives? And most importantly, is the next-gen version more playable than the current-gen on? Let us know in the comments below.

As a recent university graduate and a huge supporter of Celtic FC, what better way to use my inevitable free time to write about my favourite football team? I'll cover most things that the supporters are talking about at the moment, which includes things that directly and indirectly involve the club. At times I may also stray into matters concerning English clubs.
