3. Better Ball Control
As well as more realistic player behaviour, the trailer also demonstrated better physics when it came to ball control. In games gone by, players could shield the ball with their bodies to slow down the tempo during intense moments and to keep the opposition at bay, but only when they had first come to a complete standstill, say, by the corner flag. Now, in FIFA 14, players can shield the ball and use their bodies to out-muscle the opponent even while running, meaning players can now protect the ball at speed. That means the big and strong strikers like Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney and the aptly-named "Hulk" can essentially bully defenders by charging on a slaloming run into the box while using their brute strength to fend off pursuing defenders, while in the past, players such as these could quite easily be dispossessed by lightweight defenders like Rafael, which was just a touch unrealistic. Fortunately, this is another aspect of the game that has since been addressed.
