FIFA 15: Chelsea Player Rating Predictions

1. Diego Costa - 86

FIFA 14 Rating - 84 36 goals in all competitions while playing at one of Europe's top clubs is nothing to be sniffed at, and Diego Costa's already strong rating should see a further rise this season following his £32 million move to Chelsea. His disappointing showings at the World Cup shouldn't be held against him considering he was thrust into a team largely set up to use their striker as a decoy, while his early form for Chelsea has shown that those experiences in Brazil have been firmly put behind him. Having scored for fun in pre-season, he's now bagged two in Chelsea's two opening games, albeit against defences enduring a trial by fire following recent promotion to the top level. It'll be interesting to see how he does against more challenging opponents, but there's no reason to think EA's researchers won't be primarily looking at last season's form as a guide for his rating in FIFA 15. With that in mind, an overall increase to 86 looks a solid bet. In terms of individual stats, his Finishing of 82 already stands out as being low. You don't score 36 goals in a season without being almightly cool in taking your chances, so a boost to around 85 would be fair. While not the quickest off the mark, his Acceleration of 75 also seems a little on the low side, while his Sprint Speed of 86 seems too high. A meeting in the middle of 78 and 84 respectively seems better. Other than that, you won't get any complaints from me if the rest of his stats remain fairly consistent as they acknowlege that Chelsea have picked up a truly world class striker, much to the delight and relief of Blues-supporting FIFA players everywhere.
