Double and triple-tap crosses will be more whipped, allowing you to chop through a defence with a bursting striker in the box. Rather than just swinging a ball into the danger zone, your cross will dynamically seek out a target, not in a 'homing missile' way, but there will certainly be more direction to it. However, you must judge the angles correctly. Wingers with more space, less pressure, and a better angle to whip the ball will produce a better ball than a player who is off-balance, hounded by a full back and facing the opposite direction.
