Right, let's not beat about the bush. Danny Welbeck is not a good player. His work ethic is admirable, but his goalscoring record is woeful, and his £16 million move to Arsenal from Manchester United has not changed that one bit.

It was suggested that, given more opportunities to lead the line in Giroud's many absences (as he continues to struggle with injuries), he would be able to become a real poacher from inside the penalty area, but this simply hasn't been the case.

His pace is pretty much the only stat you can reasonably give him, but the rest of his game is based around stupidity. He has some skill, lots of tricks and flicks, and you could argue that his teammates just aren't on the same wavelength as he is. It's his decision making that lets him down, over and over again. It might not seem like a 78 rating is worth bringing down, particularly after his decent record for England, but Ultimate Team has his rating as high as 82, which is preposterous.

His 9 goals for Arsenal this season are below what should be expected of a striker given as many opportunities and openings as he is. Considering Charlie Austin has more goals for QPR than Welbeck has for Arsenal and England, lowering his rating is certainly justified.

Danny Welbeck Recommended Rating: 75
