FIFA 16: 10 Ways To Improve Manager Mode
6. Bring Coaching In
Gamers often decry the number of pointless mini-games found inside AAA video games but Manager Mode has an opening for one that could actually make a difference.
Instead of the ridiculous (although entirely optional) pre-match skill challenges, why not give players the option to run a training drill for an area of their team that they may want to improve before the game.
Players already receive stat boosts due to their perceived in-game form so where's the harm in players sharpening their strikers' shooting skills before a big game or ensuring that their central midfielder can pick the vital pass when it matters?
A similar system to the Youth Staff could be implemented with different types of coaches ranked by their individual areas of focus. The better the coaching staff, the better the team.
Again it comes back to FIFA's desire to have players face off against their friends for high scores. The pre-match sequences are naturally more diverting than a loading screen but integrating them with the manager mode experience rather than just providing bragging rights for the top scorers.
