FIFA 17: 10 Players Who Will Be Downgraded
3. James Rodriguez
When FIFA 16 came out, James Rodriguez was riding the crest of a wave. He had just completed his first season with Real Madrid, and was slowly repaying the club’s £63 million faith in him with 17 goals.
A star had been unearthed at the 2014 World Cup, with his five goals for Columbia earning him the Golden Boot.
Fast forward a year and there is a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the head of the 25-year-old, having endured a season to forget at the Bernabeu. Despite Zinedine Zidane’s protests to the contrary, there looks to be no place for Rodriguez in the Frenchman’s starting XI and the third most expensive signing in the club’s history was forced to watch from the bench for much of last season’s Champions League run.
He scored just seven league goals and failed to recapture the form which had made him such a wanted man at Monaco two years earlier.
