FIFA 17: 7 Big New Additions You Need To Know
2. Set Pieces Have Been "Completely Rewritten"
It's a truth universally acknowledged that corners are not good on FIFA. You lump a flat ball into the box and it lands safely in the goalie's gloves or a static player jumps, largely unmarked, and heads in perfectly. No sweeping runs, no scrambles, no excitement or finesse of any kind.
But according to McHardy, they've had a total revamp. Were seeing more scrambles in the box now, he said of the changes. Were seeing goals like the one Ramos scored in the Champions League final, with the ball played in from a distance, a little flick on, then someone gets a toe to it right in front of the keeper." This is all thanks to a greater accuracy on the kick and the ability to influence the receiving player more.
Freekicks are also in line for some changes, with a new range of ways to strike the thing (including the outside of the foot) allowing you to vary what you do with a dead ball. Penalties will also let you vary your run up now, with the ability to bend your run to confuse the goalkeeper and vary the speed of your approach.
Best of all though, you can now do a fake throw-in to psych out your opponents. Expect about 100 "wheeeeeeys" in every single multiplayer with your mates.
