FIFA 17: 7 New Features Fans Would Love (But Will Never Get)

Why Fans Would Love It

Another distracting aspect of Career Mode in FIFA is that you could be winning the league season after season, but still be playing in stadium built for a lower league team. Yes, you could just go to the settings and pick another stadium if you wanted a change, but wouldn’t it be great if you could just build your own?

As they progress up the leagues, smaller teams are often redeveloping their stadiums or building new ones entirely, so including that as a feature in FIFA would again add to the realism of the game. As your team gets better, you could add additional stands to increase revenue.

They could even incorporate the building process into the match day itself. Imagine playing a fixture and seeing scaffolding at one end of the ground as a new stand gets built. These new stadium mechanics could also improve the look of the crowds themselves, something that has always been an issue with FIFA games.

If you built a 40,000 seater stadium to replace your 15,000 one, it might take a while to fill up over a season, so you could be playing in front of rows of empty seats to start off with. And if your team had a poor run of form, it could empty out again as fast as it filled up.

Why It Will Never Happen

As much fun as stadium construction would be, it would involve EA adding a fully-fledged building mechanic to a football simulator game. That would be like Konami adding a football game engine to Metal Gear Solid V just so you could have a kickabout on Mother Base (although, Konami do own Pro Evo...is it too late to pitch ideas for Metal Gear Survive?).

Adding a brand new and completely different game mechanic to a football game that would be just one small aspect of one game mode would take up just too much time and money for EA.
