Analyse the difference between Lionel Messi's stats from FIFA 17 and those from this year's game and you'll only find a single point difference. Much like former team mate Neymar, Messi's dribbling skill has been reduced by EA. There are no other changes whatsoever to his overall stats, but that doesn't mean much when you're one of the game's greats.

It's pretty hard to talk about Messi without sounding like a shill for his talents. At Barcelona, he has broken all sorts of records and even scored his 38th club hat-trick last weekend in the local derby game with Espanyol. There's little to say about Messi other than he's one of the best footballers on the planet today and a great choice as FIFA 18's 2nd best player.

Maybe Messi will be privately frustrated that he hasn't been able to dislodge Cristiano Ronaldo from the top spot, but that's nothing to be ashamed of. Besides, this was always going to be CR7's year. Look at FIFA 18's branding for proof of that.
