FIFA 18: 10 Rumours You Need To Know

1. Penalties Have Been Tweaked

That new set-piece system EA introduced last year has taken some time to perfect. In fact, scrap that, because it's nigh-on impossible to master. All we can do is get to grips with it enough to occasionally trundle a ball over the line when taking penalties or avoid hitting the wall (but still balloon a shot over the bar) during free kicks.

Eurogamer.net have reported that EA Sports know just how fiddly the mechanics were last season, especially with penalties, and have integrated a much easier 'point and shoot' system for spot kicks. This means you might not have to pay as much attention to the power bar as you did last year, and should theoretically make penalties more straightforward.

Is this a key addition to FIFA 18? Nobody else has been talking about it, which could mean the new penalty idea is just a rumour. As nice as it'd be to think EA are taking fan complaints under consideration, the mechanic is a new one. The developers might just tweak it slightly instead of a total overhaul.
