FIFA 18: 10 Things EA Need To Steal From PES

9. Lionel Messi As A Cover Star

There was a time when Barcelona's jinking genius Lionel Messi could grace both FIFA and PES box art without any hint of an argument. Those days are over, and Messi is very much Konami's property now. This means that EA can't use Messi's likeness on the cover of their own games.

As one of football's most instantly-recognisable stars, it sucks that FIFA can't have one of the world's greatest players front and centre. This suggests to hardcore football fans that PES is the product to get. After all, if it has the planet's best player (sorry, Ronaldo) on the box, then it must cater to those who favour on-the-pitch action over anything else.

The insinuation is that PES plays like Messi does, whereas FIFA is a throwback to the brand-heavy 'Galáctico' Real Madrid teams of a decade ago. All style, no substance.
