FIFA 19: 10 Expert Tips To Play Like A Boss
6. Use The Right Stick When Sprinting
This year, even the fastest players in the game don't have the same impact they used to. It's now harder than ever to pass to Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi and watch them shrug past defenders like gazelles running from lions. They might beat one or two, but they're not leaving three or four in their dust.
This is a conscious decision from EA, one that aims to stop players spamming the sprint button and ignoring one-twos or skill moves.
If speed on the wing or when bearing down on goal is still your thing, then start getting comfy with the right stick. This is true on both PS4 and Xbox One. Press the right stick in the direction your player is running as soon as their foot connects with the ball and they'll push it in front of them.
This comes in handy when looking to exploit EA's 'catch up' mechanic (that sees defenders turn on the pace to battle with pace-ridden strikers). Your players are generally faster when running without the ball, and pushing it a few yards in front gives them a much-needed edge.
