FIFA 19: 10 Expert Tips To Play Like A Boss

7. Float Crosses Rather Than Drilling Them

In PES 2019, triple tapping the cross button is a surefire way to score bags of goals. In fact, low crosses are more effective than high in Konami's game. That's not the case in FIFA. The exact opposite is usually true, and drilled crossing rarely works.

In the scenario pictured above, you might think playing a low ball into the box would be the best bet. It's not, and here's where a hidden trick comes into play. By holding L1/LB, your winger will float a higher cross than normal to the back post, and it's a genius way of ensuring AI defenders and keepers are out of contention for interceptions.

Spot the attacker bombing into the penalty area towards the pic's background? It's he who'll anticipate the floated ball, drift to the back stick and give you the chance to either crack off a volley or perform a header back across the goalie that'll leave him stranded.

Simple: floated crosses, not drilled.
