FIFA 19: 10 Improvements We Want To See In Career Mode

5. Storylines That Impact The Game World

Check out that blistering featured image on this very article and you'll see Lionel Messi standing proudly in a Real Madrid shirt alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos. It's an implausible situation, and exactly the kind of thing this article has already criticised.

That doesn't mean fanciful situations like it don't have a place in FIFA 19, especially if EA keep them separate in a brand new Storyline/Scenario Mode that brings larger-than-life headlines to player careers.

Messi putting pen-to-paper on a deal with Los Blancos and smiling as he's unveiled as the latest Galáctico at the Bernabéu is ludicrous, and that's why it should be kept separate from the meat and potatoes reality of the usual mode; in Storyline/Scenario however, it'd be an earth-shattering announcement that changes how the game plays.

Generally, nothing that happens has an impact on the world around your club in FIFA 18. If Madrid signed Messi there, the in-game press conferences would react the same way as if they'd just snagged Rodrigo from Valencia.
