FIFA 19: 10 New Features That Fix Annoying Problems

1. On-The-Fly Importance

With the absence of "Park The Bus" presets and other, similar limitations, on-the-fly tactics will be more important than ever before to winning football matches in FIFA 19.

The quick sub mechanic introduced last year will be bolstered by more tactical nous as well. If you're sending on a player to plug a gap, score the winner or generally run a tired defence ragged, then you'll be given more options to make that possible. This is all part of EA's determined drive to make tactics as vital in-game as they are in pre-match menu screens.

It's an adaptable system, one that pulls FIFA away from recent restrictions when it comes to getting the most from the gameplay. Suddenly, just like in real-life, throwing on that burly centre forward for some much-needed hold up play or sending a centre back tumbling forward for corners becomes more about player choice than in-built CPU decision-making decreed by lines of code.

Games will hinge on decisions being made at the right times, with the correct players and with the right tactics. If that doesn't get you excited, then it's probably best to fire up FIFA '98 or get a few games of Sensible Soccer on the go.

FIFA, like the sport it emulates, is evolving.
