FIFA 21 Review: 6 Ups & 7 Downs
4. Heading Finally Feels Balanced
Try to head the ball in FIFA 20 and you'd take out some poor bugger's Bovril in Row H behind the goal. Lord only knows how many neck bridges those players were doing, but they had the ability to head the ball harder than they could strike it. Or, they'd weakly glance it into a keeper's arms like they had the strength of a toddler.
The good news? FIFA 21 has fixed this heading hell.
Crossing is finally a dangerous weapon when hitting teams on the break again. In fact, it's maybe a little too over-powered for now (EA will patch this over the next few months to try and find more harmony between headed goals and shooting) and results in a stunning goal a bit too often. Enough moaning, 'cause it's an improvement.
Headed goals can be some of the most rewarding in real-life football, so it's sweet to see EA bring that glory back into the FIFA fold. Feel free to leap up with confidence, and watch as your players actually direct headers on target.
