FIFA 22 Beta: 10 Hands-On First Impressions
7. Stewart Robson Is A Bit Wooden
BT Sports' Serie A co-commentator Stewart Robson has replaced Lee Dixon's game-on-game whinges in FIFA 22. Some will love that, but...Robbo is just a bit wooden, and that's especially true during match intros. It legit sounds like the guy is bored and reading his script in a 'take the p*ss' kind of way at some points.
He's fine mid-match, at least. One criticism might be that the commentary overall seems way too familiar - removing the option to switch between two teams was a mistake from EA, although it is worth saying that Robson's analysis feels a little more positive than Dixon's overtly-negative approach to literally everything that happened on the park.
Being told you suck after trying a first time volley wasn't much fun.
There's time for EA to tweak this too, and the addition of Alex Scott as a pitch side reporter should up the energy come release time. Still not Clive Tyldesley and Ally McCoist though, is it?
