FIFA World Cup 2014: 10 Things It Does Better Than FIFA 14

9. Real Managers

FIFA 14 made a big leap in Career Mode by giving us customisable options for our manager, which excited us at first - only to find that it really made no difference at all, apart from what colour suit the awkwardly placed man at the bottom of your screen was wearing. Ultimately, it was a disappointment and a waste of time. World Cup 2014 comes along with 19 officially licensed managers from the real world and while this won't sound like much given the 200-odd nations available on the game, it is a big step. We've seen it before in summer tournament games but this time EA use the managers very well. They're not just there for show, which is shown by the fact Roy Hodgson is actually animated in his technical area. In truth, it doesn't make much difference to the game itself but its inclusion isn't a waste of time and does have its benefits. It makes the game more realistic and varies what you'll see on screen after a goal is scored, rather than a panoramic shot of a stadium that doesn't look very excited - or even alive for that matter, which kind of dampens your spirits after you've scored a 50-yard screamer.
