Final Fantasy: 10 Memorable Characters That Deserve Their Own Game

2. Freya (Final Fantasy IX)

Final Fantasy Freya Freya is one of the most interesting characters in the series. A Burmecian anthropomorphic rat, she is a skilled warrior and is particularly adept at taking down dragons (and doing so powers up one of her attacks). In Final Fantasy IX, her personal story revolves around her search for her lost love, Sir Fratley. In her own spin-off, her relationship with Sir Fratley would be one of the central themes - whether it takes place before or after the events of the original game. She could fit quite nicely into an Elder Scrolls-style affair, where the player is given free reign over what to do and when, but with a main line of story quests that push the deep, intriguing narrative on. The world would of course still be FFIX's Gaia, and the player could visit the old familiar towns and cities, take part in the Tetra Master card tournament, the Festival of the Hunt, Battle Arena and the like. Incidentally, there are comparisons to be drawn between Freya and Skyrim's protagonist, since both benefit from the slaying of dragons; this could be brought over to Freya's spin-off, too.
