Final Fantasy 14: 10 Reasons It Deserves Your Attention In 2021
7. Amazing Eorzea
Final Fantasy is a series known for breaking new ground in the visuals department, and though its fourteenth instalment is far from graphical perfection, it's easily one of the best looking games in the MMO genre.
Textures are detailed, environments are stunning and locations are always jaw dropping. If it wasn't for the obnoxiously large player names floating above everyone who inhabits Eorzea Final Fantasy XIV would be forgiven for being mistaken for a high budget PS3 or XBOX 360 game.
Visuals are reminiscent of Final Fantasy XII that released some years prior, and the stark difference in environments from each of the three opening cities and beyond is simply stunning.
Eorzea is a land in turmoil, trying desperately to find its footing after a calamity that occurred five years before the events of A Realm Reborn. Happening upon one of the land's plentiful dungeons or stumbling across another Aetheryte as you fill out the map is such a reward, not just because it means you're progressing, but because it's yet another corner of unexplored terrain uncovered.
The four walls you park yourself in are immediately rendered redundant as Final Fantasy XIV so quickly and intensely sucks you into its world.
