4. A Multi-Character Battle System
Battles have always been the core of the Final Fantasy series, but in recent iterations, their appeal has been hindered by the fact that games have allowed players to control only one character at a time, with the actions of the rest of their party determined by the computer, whose strategies can be dubious at the best of times. Either the Active Time Battle system, seen in Final Fantasy's IV through IX, or the Conditional Turn Battle system, seen in Final Fantasy X, would make a welcome return in Final Fantasy XV, as both allowed for complete control of the player's characters, allowing the player full control over their combat strategy. On an additional note, there are split opinions across the fan base on how battles should be initiated. Older games in the series utilised random encounters, the frequency of which could be irritating, but allowed players to grind at will, whilst more recent games offer a preset amount of enemies on each screen, allowing combat to be avoided if desired, but forcing players to constantly move between screens if they wished or needed to grind. Whichever system is implemented in Final Fantasy XV, there will be some who love and some who hate it, and it is arguable that either could be successful and well-received, depending on its implementation.
