Final Fantasy 7 Remake: 10 Story Changes That Have Already Happened
8. Shinra Blows Up The Sector 1 Reactor
The concept of Shinra blowing up the Sector 1 reactor is something that is briefly alluded to in the original game, but the remake seems to be going all-in.
In the Symphonic Reunion trailer, Wedge is heard telling the party that the level of destruction on display couldn't have been all them. We also see into the Shin-Ra control room, as it seems the President and various members of the board are behind the explosion.
This is an interesting alteration, as it creates a dynamic that is similar but different. The original game painted AVALANCHE as eco-terrorists who, in spite of their good intentions of saving the planet, were still terrorists.
Their hands weren't clean.
The remake alters that into something different, where AVALANCHE is being used by Shinra, but are still in the dark as to just how much. They also appear to be trying to paint the group as being responsible for some kind of drama happening in Wutai, where future party member Yuffie is from.
This could create some very intriguing internal conflict, as Yuffie may not be so keen to help them.
